What a great book for kids.

Review: The Prepper's Pocket Guide

I can't say enough good things about this book. When I got my review copy I wasn't sure what to expect. It's small size made it look like a beginner's book. Having years of experience and research into prepping I didn't expect much. Boy was I wrong. This book contains 101 easy things you can do to ready your home for a disaster. There were several things in there that I had never thought of or read before. One of my favorites was how to distill water with a pot and a cup. I have since done a few of the projects such as sprouting seeds and making beef jerky in the oven. I would recommend this book to anyone from beginner to expert. The author, Bernie Carr, runs apartmentprepper.com which I recommend keeping an eye on whether you live in an apartment or a homestead. This is the kind of book that you keep handy to reference frequently. It would also make a great gift for friends and family even if they aren't into prepping. Bernie puts things in a friendly common sense fashion that is easy to relate to. So, in conclusion, Check It Out.

"Lights Out" Review

I just finished reading Lights Out. It basically starts out with an EMP attack on the entire U.S. It then follows the main characters Mark and Jim through the rest of the story. It had some interesting things to consider, but all in all I thought it was a bit uneventful. The writing style kept me very interested because I was always waiting for something to happen. I will say however that it was totally worth reading. It really gives you a feel for realistically dealing with a huge unanticipated event. I have also read "The Bug Out" from the same author. It is a short very eventful story about a family after dirty bombs hit a nearby city. Check it out.
